One Harvest is seeking an enthusiastic New Product Development (NPD) Concept Technologist to join our Concept Development Team. This highly hands-on role is central to supporting the full innovation cycle, from creative concepting and kitchen sample making, through to customer submissions and technical compliance.  

ABOUT THE ROLE  

As our NPD Concept Technologist, you will help transform ideas into functional food concepts. You will support the NPD Concept Team by preparing samples, conducting trials, testing ingredients, and ensuring the Concept Kitchen operates smoothly, safely, and to a high standard.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Lead hands-on kitchen sample preparation including ingredient collection, weighing, batching, and assembling product samples. 
  • Assist with concept validation, feasibility trials, ingredient testing, and shelf-life assessments.  
  • Maintain an organised, hygienic, food-safe Concept Kitchen.  
  • Prepare submission labels, paperwork, and courier bookings.  
  • Assist with drafting product specifications, reports, and document control.  
  • Brief suppliers on new raw materials and packaging needs.  
  • Conduct VITAL allergen assessments, calculate NIPs and HSR, and draft compliant ingredient declarations.  
  • Review supplier PIFs for accuracy and compliance.  
  • Support compliance with FSANZ, customer requirements, and internal food safety management systems.  
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.  
  • Research food trends and contribute creative, commercially viable product ideas.  
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and product design.  

  

ABOUT YOU  

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Technology or related field.  

  • 1–2 years’ experience in food product development (FMCG preferred). Graduates considered.  

  • Strong culinary skills and comfort working hands-on in a chilled development kitchen.  

  • Knowledge of FSANZ, NMI, APCO and food labelling requirements.  

  • Familiarity with AFGC PIFs, VITAL Online, AUSNUT and Microsoft Office.  

  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.  

DESIRABLE  

  • Experience with RTE salads or chilled high-care foods.  

  • Passion for food trends and product innovation.  

  • Continuous improvement mindset.  

 HEALTH, SAFETY & QUALITY  

  • Follow all WHS and Food Safety procedures.  

  • Ensure work complies with HACCP and quality systems.  

  • Report safety issues or non-conformances promptly.
